The Colony is a beautifully restored British colonial bungalow built circa 1920. Located in the Bay of Tangalle, it is a beach lover's paradise.... This elegant black and white beach house surrounded by a pretty garden enjoys spectacular views of the ocean. Owned by British expats, Alison & Michael Thomas, The Colony is an exceptional property offering you luxurious living with a perfect blend of modern day and a bygone era. The design skills of the Thomas' are apparent throughout. The villa is tastefully decorated with pieces from all over Asia and other exotic places. There are 4 luxurious bedrooms perfect for 8 adults. The villa currently operates as a small boutique hotel, whereby guests are able to rent individual rooms. A brand new salt-water swimming pool is under construction and will be completed by mid-December 05. The Colony is unique in the area and is arguably the only truly beautifully appointed boutique hotel/villa in the vicinity. Tangalle and its surrounding areas are also well known for great surfing. Just 10 minutes away are the best spots. The Thomas' have a selection of good quality body boards, and they will be happy to direct you to their other estate along the coast, where you can body board or simply have a great day out.

There are 4 luxurious bedrooms with ensuite facilities. All bedrooms have air conditioning and are named after a colonial era location: Malacca - A large king sized ebony bed, antique furniture and black & gold furnishings complete the room. There is a lovely 1920's style ensuite bathroom attached. Pondicherry - with a touch of south india has twin teak beds with cream & orange furnishings. Pondicherry also has an 'art deco' style ensuite bathroom. Sulawesi - This is the Indonesian room! With pretty furnishings and a lovely satinwood four poster bed. An ensuite shower room is attached. Mandalay - a taste of Burma! An antique queen size Mara bed with lovely pieces of antique furniture and art. An ensuite shower room is attached.

The living area with comfortable sofas is stylish and elegant. There is also a TV room with a wide selection of DVD's and a library for guest use. There is a large verandah, with spectacular views of the Indian Ocean, for just relaxing, having breakfast or partaking in an early evening sundowner. The living areas face the verandah and the sea...just 35 metres beyond... There are plenty of private seating areas in the gardens for those seeking solitude. |

There is a lovely large modern kitchen. The villa is fully staffed, and comes with an excellent chef. A western influenced menu is offered along with a selection of fine wines. Not to mention the hospitality of its English owners. Tropical or English breakfast are available, and a 3 course evening meal selected from the menu.

OUR PROMISE: We do not mark up our rates, we sell at cost. Nor do we charge you extra for on-line credit/debit card payments Pricing Below bed & breakfast rates are based on High Season (December - March and July & August). US$150 per double room per night, US$130 per single room per night or US$650 for the villa per night Minimum stay is 2 nights. All rates are subject to an additional 10% service charge. During low season (April-June and September-November), the rates will be reduced by 20%. Christmas, New Year & Easter - the rates are subject to a 25% surcharge. During this time, minimum stay is 5 nights. Child Policy No children under 12 years, unless whole villa is booked. Payment Policy A 15% deposit is payable to secure the booking. The deposit can be paid via our secure server or via bank transfer. Customers must pay all bank charges in the case of a bank transfer. A further 15% is payable 7 days after your confirmation. This should be paid direct to The Colony by SWIFT bank transfer. The balance is due one month prior to arrival. Cancellation Policy The deposits are non refundable. Cancellations made within 3 weeks of arrival date will be subject to a further 50% charge of total booking value. Cancellations within one week of arrival or no shows all year round will be liable to 100% charge of booking total. |
